EVSRA SAFETY CULTURE
We are very serious about your crew’s safety. In addition to having a comprehensive safety plan, we also designate a Safety Officer at each regatta who is responsible for enforcing it and spotting potential problems. Several regatta officials monitor weather conditions throughout the day and our regatta office is equipped with a NOAA tone alert weather radio. All motor launches and race officials are issued portable radios which provide a lakewide communications network.
Safety launches equipped with first aid kits and solar blankets are located at each end of the race course, and we have a landside aid station in the regatta office. At each regatta we designate a physician to serve as regatta Medical Officer. Thanks to a generous donation, we have a modern AED device on premises.
We always post a weather report listing the day’s predicted conditions, and conduct a mandatory coxswain’s meeting during which we review safety and course information.
