COXSWAIN’S CONDENSED RULES

Rules
Even scholastic rowing is governed by a set of rules written by The United States Rowing Association, the national governing body for competitive rowing in this country.

The Rules of Rowing are observed at all levels of competition in the United States and with few exceptions, they apply to all EVSRA regattas.

Although it is important for you to understand many aspects of the rules, many more of them have little bearing on your responsibilities as a coxswain. To make it easier, we have selected the ones that are most important to coxing and have divided them generally in the order of your race responsibilities. Take a few minutes to review them and then double check with your coach to make sure we have not left anything out that he or she wants you to know.
