CHAMPIONSHIP RACE SCHEDUILE
AND COMPETITION POLICIES
Prior to registration coaches should familiarize themselves with the following race template and practices that govern EVSRA’s Championship Regatta and Independent School Championships.
EVSRA uses the following order of events for these regattas. Racing begins at 9 AM and events run on ten minute centers. Double rowing is not permitted. While we attempt to accommodate as many hull conflicts as possible, coaches should allow 40 minutes between races involving a boat conflict.

The local organizing committee reserves the right to change the order of events and to adjust centers in order to promote a maximum number of races and for the convenience of the regatta. Nevertheless, no refund will be issued for registrations that violate the 40 minute separation rule based upon the order of events shown above.
There is a three boat minimum for championship races. Light and second events may be combined if undersubscribed in either category. If combined, medals will be awarded but will be denominated with the crew’s classification and a notation of combined competition, for example. “Lightweight, Combined Event.”
Coaches are advised that sculling events are frequently undersubscribed. Additionally, sculls may be interspersed among sweep events in the final race schedule to promote separation of sweep conflicts. For registration purposes, coaches should assume that the separation time between events 12 and 19 is a maximum of thirty minutes.
There are no progression rules for championship regattas..
Heat and lane assignments will be made based upon final regular season times with fastest boats assigned to alternating heats. Fastest boats are assigned to the center lanes according to the following lane order (fastest to slowest): 3, 4, 2, 5, 1, 6. Lane assignments will be made based upon a blind draw for boats with no recorded times.
Lane assignments in final events will be made based upon qualifying heat times.
Final schedules with lane assignments will be emailed to head coaches by 6 PM on Friday evening prior to regattas.
Additional registrations will be accepted on a space available basis at the coaches meeting. There is a $10 administrative fee per event for races added on the morning of the regatta in addition to the normal entry fee. EVSRA is unable to issue refunds for scratched entries.
We conduct a coaches meeting in at 7:15 AM to confirm the race schedule. There is a mandatory coxswains meeting at 7:45 AM. Coaches meet in the picnic shelter; coxswains meet in the dock master area, unless otherwise advertised.
A scoring system for each championship will be posted separately when finalized by EVSRA.
